Sokoto Governor to ban street begging The Governor said the act is degrading and it does not align with the tenets of Islam.   Aminu Tambuwal The Sokoto state Governor, Aminu Tambuwal has revealed that he plans to ban street begging. The Governor said the act is degrading and it does not align with the tenets of Islam. He said this while giving assistance to the needy under   the State Zakkat and Endowment Committee. Tambuwal also said he will liaise with Muslim clerics in the state to deliberate on how to stop begging. Also, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, also praised the Governor for funding of the Zakat committee. Governor Aminu Tambuwal also increased the allowances of corps members in the state.  

Governor awards N59m contract to carpenters, welders Anisulowo also revealed that the desks will be distributed to some primary schools in some part of Ekiti state.   Gov Fayose Governor Ayo Fayose has taken a decision to boost the local content capacity in Ekiti state. Fayose reportedly awarded a N59m contract to carpenters and welders, which entails the construction of 1,250 chairs and desks for primary schools in Ekiti state. According to the Chairman of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) implementation, Chief Dipo Anisulowo, said the move is in-line with the Governor’s desire to boost the capacity of local contractors. Anisulowo also revealed that the desks will be distributed to some primary schools in some part of Ekiti state. Adding that the gesture will improve the learning experience of pupils and increase the standard of basic education in Ekiti state.
