US woman who attempted to join ISIS jailed for 12 years A woman from Mississippi, United States, who planned a disguised honeymoon journey but was actually going to join the Islamic State group, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison. Jaelyn Young Jaelyn Young,   who converted to Islam while studying at Mississippi State University, was jailed on   terrorism charges on Thursday, August 11, by US   District Judge Sharion Aycock. In March, she pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to provide material support to a terrorist organization. Young's parents had pleaded for leniency as she had faced up to 20 years in prison.
